Former As bat boy fooled women into thinking he was Eric Byrnes, ex-MLB star reveals

A story from Eric Byrnes MLB playing days shows how far confidence and a little borrowed credibility could go.

According to Byrnes, appearing on his “Deuces Wild” podcast, a former Oakland As bat boy used an official team cap and his mothers Cadillac Escalade to pursue a sexual encounter with one of two women who mistook him for the star outfielder.

As the bat boy sat at a red light, two women pulled up alongside him and mistook him for Byrnes. He decided to play along and eventually used the misunderstanding to pursue a sexual encounter with one of the women.

“The girls are like, Eric Byrnes! Eric Byrnes! and hes like, Yeah, whats up?” Byrnes recalled. “He ends up getting his knob polished. Im not kidding. The whole time, this chick thinks its f—ing me.”

When the bat boy later admitted he had pretended to be Byrnes, the ex-MLB star gave him an earful.

“He told me, and Im like, Bro, no! What the f—, you cant do that,” Byrnes said. “And sure enough, we made an agreement: nice work, congratulations, dont ever f—ing do it again.”

Byrnes, who famously grabbed a rogue fan on the outfield grass during a 2005 game against the Yankees, let the bat boy walk away with a warning. It was a very different kind of sports catfishing in those days.

Today, a Bay Area athlete impersonation case has gone from strange to stranger-than-fiction.

Social media influencer Daejon Love was recently indicted in federal court over an alleged $1.3 million romance scheme, using forged banking apps, custom gear and staged videos to trick at least 26 women into believing he played for the NFLs San Francisco 49ers.

Love is now left to explain his alleged fake NFL career in federal court.
